Course Objectives:
  1. To make the students understand basic Management concepts, Managerial skills, Values and Ethics in Management.
  2. To gain knowledge on various Management Thought and Functions of Management in the Aviation Field.
  3. To acquaint the student with Management Plaining, Decision Making, and Organizational Structures knowledge in Aviation and Travel Management.
  4. To familiarize the student with concept of Leadership, Motivation and Communication Process.
  5. To get exposure on different techniques of Management Controlling and Management Coordinating that they would find useful in their disciplines.

Unit I

Definition, Functions & Process, Scope & Significance of Management, Nature of Management & Managerial Roles, Managerial Skills and Activities, Difference between Management and Administration, Significance of Values and Ethics in Management.

Unit II

Evolution of Management Thought, Approaches of Management Thought, Functions of Management.

Unit III

Planning and Organizing Nature, Scope, Objective and Significance of Planning, Elements and Steps of Planning, Decision Making Organizing Principles, Span of Control, Line and Staff Relationship, Authority, Delegation and Decentralization, Effective Organizing,, Organizational Structures, Formal and Informal Organizations, Staffing.

Unit IV

Directing Effective Directing, Supervision, Motivation, Different Theories of Motivation- Maslow, Herzberg, Mc Clelland, Vroom, Porter and Lawler, Job Satisfaction, Concept of Leadership- Theories and Styles, Communication Process, Channels and Barriers, Effective Communication.

Unit V

Controlling and Coordinating, Elements of Managerial Control, Control Systems, Management Control Techniques, Effective Control Systems, Coordination Concept, Importance, Principles and Techniques of Coordination, Concept of Managerial Effectiveness.

The PLP in Drafting Legislation, Regulation, and Policy has been offered by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies with considerable success since 2004.
